The Government of Liberia hereby commits to work with key parliamentary members for the passage of the amended Aliens and Nationality Law to address issues of gender discrimination in Liberia. The current Aliens and Nationality Law of Liberia (ANL) discriminates against Liberian women who have children with foreign nationals from passing on their nationality automatically to their children like their male counterparts. This section 20 of the ANL has to be aligned with the Liberian Constitution (Article 28); to review the Aliens and Nationality Law to ensure protection against denial of nationality on discriminatory grounds, such as disability or medical reasons. The Government of Mali hereby commits to carry out legal reforms to ensure that no child is born stateless in Mali, in accordance with Action [2] of the Global Action Plan. This commitment includes the drafting and publication of a decree implementing the 2011 Nationality Code, as well as the amendment of the relevant provisions of the Law No. 11-080/AN-RM of 2 December 2011 (Title V on Nationality).
